Welcome to our 18th newsletter and just when we thought we might be ushering in autumn and waxing lyrical about the beautiful colours of the season, we seem to be basking in an Indian Summer which has sent all the plants into a state of confusion…..at least in my garden! However, all good things come to an end so if you are already getting depressed about the change in the weather, maybe seeing some of the delights we have on offer might cheer you up.
Our French WW1 propaganda posters are now down off our walls and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who came and viewed them and shared their knowledge of the relevant history. There is no doubt that we enjoyed some wonderful and interesting stories whilst these beautiful examples of lithography graced our walls. And if you have taken a bit longer than the length of the show to finalise your choice, fear not because those that did no sell are not too far away so just let us know which one you want.
22 October marks the opening day of our Henry Moore Prints’ show. Moore was one of the giants of 20th century art and in addition to making sculptures of breath-taking beauty, he was also a prolific print maker. We will be showing 48 of his magnificent prints from a variety of his portfolios. Prices start from as little as £250 for his unsigned collotypes and go up to around £5,000.
But in the meantime we are delighted with our new mixed hang, which is almost all completely new stock for the gallery.
We have some wonderful new pieces in by Jenny Grevatte. The work of this artist is not totally new to us but we have some lovely fresh examples of her work. We also have some new work in by Chagall, Picasso and Miro which are all sitting alongside some beautiful signed lithographs by Graham Sutherland, screenprints by Peter Blake and……the list feels almost endless so the easiest thing is simply to pay us a visit and have a look at what we have in at present.
There will be more to follow……as we said in the last newsletter, we are completely restocking so not everything is with us yet. Keep a watchful eye on our window and please do drop in from time-to-time.
A Jug Fest!
We have decided to tempt our pot fans with what we can only describe as a festival of jugs. We have a range of jugs on show in various shapes and sizes by a variety of different potters. If you need a new milk, water or soft drink jug then drop in as we have a selection from which to choose; are you on the hunt for something a little different to put that beautiful bunch of flowers in then perhaps one our wonderful jugs is the answer; maybe you just want something fabulous to have sitting on a shelf or floor to admire and enjoy. Whatever your needs, we probably have a jug for the job.
And if jugs are not your thing then don’t forget that we always have a great range of pots in our stock room so come in for a browse.
Keep in touch
We have a lot more exciting things happening as we move forwards so bear with us as we finalise our ideas and initiatives……and if you have any suggestions to make yourselves then feel free to share them with us; we are always happy to listen.
Wanted……a car parking space in the area. We have, until now, been paying for the use of a garage in Village Close garages. Unfortunately, the owners of the garages have decided to sell en masse and the site is going to be redeveloped. We are therefore interested to learn of any other possible parking spaces that we could rent in the area. If you can help or know of anyone else who might be able to help, please just give us a call or drop us an email.
